Strengths and Career Achievements
Sally was most recently Vice President and General Manager for GlaxoSmithKline in the Gulf Co-operation Council countries and was the first female leader of any pharmaceutical business in this part of the Middle East.
She was previously the Vice President and Cluster Area Director for South East Europe, based in Croatia, where she was responsible for 11 diverse markets, both within and outside the European Union. Prior to that she was Vice President and Head of Commercial Strategy and Operations, driving strategic change for GSK’s European business and also leading commercial excellence operations for the globe.
Sally worked with GlaxoSmithKline for over 20 years and held various commercial roles in different parts of the world, including General Manager positions in Ireland and Hong Kong. She has been VP & Head of Commercial Operations for the Emerging Markets and Asia Pacific / Japan region and she also set up and led the first Respiratory Centre of Excellence in the International Region.
Sally is passionate about people leadership and has always focused on attracting, inspiring, developing and retaining the best people and on creating strong teams. She has built impactful external partnerships with governments, stakeholders and customers.
Sally has served on industry trade association strategy boards in 3 countries. In Ireland, Sally was a non-Executive Director of Barretstown (a charity and a specially-designed camp that provides therapeutic recreation programmes for children with serious illnesses); she was a founder member & board member of the British Irish Chamber of Commerce.
Sally has a degree in Chinese Studies from Durham University; this included a year at the People’s University in Beijing, China.
