Sophie is a senior corporate affairs executive and a qualified lawyer with diverse experience in strategy implementation. Combining experience and interpersonal skills, she is always ready to hit the ground running and deliver results at speed.

Sophie brings over 25 years professional experience and a track record of success in developing corporate affairs strategies, along with her unique blend of government affairs, public policy, commercial and legal experience at national, regional and global level. She served on corporate management teams for over ten years and on numerous Boards and committees of trade associations. She was a Board member of the European Personal Care Association for seven years.

Strengths and Career Achievements

Sophie uses her strategic vision to enhance the operations of Skarbek Associates, as Director of Operations.

Prior to joining Skarbek Associates, Sophie was a consultant for three years, where she fulfilled challenging assignments, guiding trade associations’ strategy development & delivery, governance and advocacy coordination at national and European levels.

Previously, she was Vice President & Head Global Public Affairs Consumer Healthcare and spent 20 years with two leading corporations, Sanofi and GlaxoSmithKline, where she held a range of corporate leadership positions in the EMEA region and globally. This included managing risks and opportunities to shape an increasingly complex environment through engaging with a wide range of audiences, providing solutions and implementing responsible and sustainable actions. As a member of management teams, she was involved in strategy, operational decisions, portfolio planning, strategic investment, marketing and brand management.

Additionally, Sophie served as an attorney, practiced EU law and was secretary general to ICC International Arbitration tribunals at Coppens, Van Ommeslaghe & Faures (Coudert Brothers) in Brussels.

Sophie is a keen advocate of equal rights for women and is a member of ‘Women on Board’ and a Volunteer at the NGO “Duo for a Job”, dealing with the professional integration of young immigrants and refugees.
