Skarbek survey results and project management focus for 2018
Strategic alignment is strong but lagging people management approaches threaten progress
The results from Skarbek Associates’ annual health check surveys are in and have been analysed. Alignment of projects to strategy was strong in 2017, and functional contributors were confident they could deliver. But there is work to do for HR business partners and line managers in aligning performance management systems to reflect those contributors’ efforts. We’ve selected some of the more interesting results to illustrate our view on where progress was made, and where we think the focus for the rest of 2018 should be.
The two areas we’re most keen to focus attention on are those that are both endemic in modern, fast-moving and complex organisations but also vital to master:
- Maintaining the situational awareness for stakeholders of the actual work being done
- Aligning the key people processes with the key work of the organisation in order to successfully implement strategy
