Ian Pontefract

Ian was appointed Chairman at Skarbek Associates in March 2023. Ian is a former partner at KPMG where he had a very successful 35 year career.  He was a founding member of the Transaction Services business and helped to lead significant growth, working on a huge number of transactions across the globe.

Sector and Service Expertise

Ian has significant expertise in a broad range of transactions providing due diligence services to owners that want to buy, sell or refinance their companies. In the last 20 years of his career, Ian had a specific focus on private equity transactions working across multi sectors in both the UK and overseas. He has significant experience in healthcare, consumer and industrial markets, business services and energy.

Strengths and Career Achievements

Ian has recently retired from KPMG and is building a plural career based on his experiences and interests to date. Ian has been appointed Chairman of Skarbek with a particular focus on driving sustainable growth. At KPMG, Ian had a number of long term and successful client relationships which he worked closely with to help them to achieve their growth ambitions through executing on successful transactions.

He has a reputation for building very strong teams and working closely with his colleagues to help them to develop personally and to achieve their career goals. He was a senior member of the Transaction Services leadership team for a number of years during which time the business delivered significant growth and developed a broad range of services.
