Pat Ansell

Pat is a highly experienced executive with a strong track record of delivery in senior finance and commercial roles. He has a great passion for people and organisational development and is an experienced coach and mentor.

Sector and Service Expertise

Pat has extensive experience in the consumer healthcare, pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries and he has worked in multiple developing and developed markets across the globe. He has built and re-engineered large finance organisations focusing resources on business support whilst driving efficiency in the back office. He spent some of his career in leadership roles on the commercial side of the business and was lucky enough to be involved in some of the largest product launches in the history of the pharmaceutical industry.

Strengths and Career Achievements

Most recently, Pat was Chief of Staff to the CFO at Gilead Sciences, where he focussed on initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of the finance function in 2020 and beyond, as well as contributing to Gilead’s geographic expansion in Japan and China. He also served as Corporate Controller and was the CFO for Europe during a period of significant geographic and revenue expansion. During a four year stint on the commercial side of the business, he led a number of large and smaller markets through the launch of innovative new drugs for the treatment of HIV and hepatitis C.

Prior to Gilead, Pat spent a number of years at GlaxoSmithKline where he led the finance function in North America (consumer healthcare), China and the Middle East and also served as the assistant group controller.

Pat has a great passion for people and organisational development. Throughout his career he acted as a coach and mentor to other senior leaders and continues to do this for a number of organisations.

Pat holds a M.Eng. in Chemical Engineering from Leeds University and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
